Let’s take a moment for a step in the right direction. In the wake of dismantling systemic racism, fashion publication Harper’s Bazaar is taking a step towards change. In their 153-year history Harper’s has named their first Black editor-in-chief Samira Nasr. In her new role, Samira Nasr will oversee content strategy and development across the brand’s print and digital platforms.. Harper's Bazaar publicized the new lead role through their Instagram channel which we attached below: “To all the protesters, community organizers, activists and those currently fighting to be safe, to be seen and heard through our own narratives, I see you, I thank you, and I hope we can join forces to amplify the message of equality because Black lives matter,” Nasr says. As the daughter of a Lebanese father and Trinidadian mother, she says her world view is expansive and is anchored in the belief that representation matters.
Representation means everything as we all know and having such a large platform will make a huge difference in helping to eliminate ingrained stereotypes/perceptions. Beginning a new chapter in Bazaar’s history will work to give all voices a platform to tell stories that have never been told. We cannot wait to see how this publication will transform under a new lead who strives to bring about a reflection that is diverse and inclusive.

Thanks for sharing the article, and more importantly, your personal experience of mindfully using our emotions as data about our inner state and knowing when it’s better to de-escalate by taking a time out are great tools. Appreciate you reading and sharing your story since I can certainly relate and I think others can to
